Assistant Manager Position

Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to organize daily operations and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service.

The Assistant Manager responsibilities include scheduling shifts for baristas and wait staff, ordering supplies as needed, nurturing customer relationships, resolving issues and creating a welcoming local coffee shop. To be successful in this role you should have work experience with various roles in coffee shops. Also, you should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Ultimately, you will help increase profitability, boost customer engagement and turn our cafe into a favorite local spot.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed
Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences
Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service
Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy
Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation

Requirements and skills

Work experience as a Cafe Manager, Assistant Manager or Barista
Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
Good math skills
Availability to work within opening hours (including Saturdays and holidays)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
Ability to stand for long periods
Customer service attitude
High school diploma
Additional certification (e.g. in Business Administration or Hospitality) is a plus

Barista/Register

Our team members are cross-trained in various positions. Hours are open availability. Compensation is competitive and negotiable.

Job Description

Our team members will rotate between the following positions:

1. Register

Good communication skills — with customers, team members and the management team.
Ability to learn and work with a point-of-sale system and accept credit card payments.
Able to welcome and engage with customers.

2. Barista

Able to work with different types of coffee machines and coffee grinders.
Prepare hot and cold beverages following specific recipes.

3. Team Support

Prepare and package various pastry items
Restock our products (such as pastries, cups, syrups, milks, straws, etc.)
Maintain a clean and welcoming environment both in the front and the back of the house (including sweeping, mopping, cleaning countertops, tables and workspaces.
Wash dishes.

Able to learn and work independently as well as helping others when needed
Able to receive direction and take initiative
Responsible and reliable
Cheerful attitude
Attention to detail and following to guidelines
Endurance: able to be on your feet a few hours at a time, bending and walking
Comfort with environmental exposure to hot and cold items, steam, noises from people and coffee machines
Willingness to have FUN!
